Physician Survey

Research conducted by K.I.S. regarding our medical records solution service revealed an overwhelming positive response by emergency room physicians. We supplied the doctors with actual medical records. Their task was to study the medical case as it would be presented to them in the E.R. Half were without medical records. The other half contained medical histories prepared by K.I.S. Medical Record Solutions.

The questions asked of the physicians surveyed included:

1. What is your initial working diagnosis?
2. For proper care what additional information is required?
3. What test would you order on each particular patient?
4. What is your treatment plan?
5. What is your final diagnosis and disposition of each patient?

Results of our survey were overwhelmingly positive.

	The correct initial diagnosis increased from 45% up to 87% percent. Physicians felt more comfortable treating patients with medical records present, and recognized problems earlier.

	All the doctors requested medical records. Of all the actual cases, only 28% had medical records in the hospital where they were treated. K.I.S. records required no additional information.

	On average, physicians with K.I.S. records ordered $800.00 to $1200.00 less in tests. Ordered tests were more specific and related to the final diagnosis more precisely. When records were available, many tests that would be unpleasant for the patient and take hours to perform were deemed unnecessary. K.I.S includes actual copies of doctor’s dictations and test results for the treating physician.

	Treatments and the prescribing of medications were more precise and specific to the medical diagnosis.

	The final diagnosis and dispositions were far more accurate. Correct diagnosis of the cases improved by over one-third. Unnecessary admissions to the hospital decreased by 42%. Inappropriate discharges decreased by 20%. Patients with K.I.S medical records were correctly diagnosed and admitted to the hospital 98% of the time. The results of our survey were quite remarkable.
