KIS Medical Records and Assistance
The physician covering for the insurance group "The Hospitalist", or On-Call Physician will receive the member’s medical record information at the same time as the record is received by the treating facility, and doctor seeing the patient.
"The Hospitalist now knows the patient he may never have seen before".
KIS Medical Records allow for:
The Hospitalist or On-Call Physician to intercede in long and extensive work-ups on their patients that have already been performed at another hospital or doctors office. Therefore, The Hospitalist or On-Call Physician can become involved in the patients care much earlier.
The Hospitalist can now discuss the patients case with the same knowledge as the treating physician.
KIS Medical Records and Cost Containment:
By knowing the patient's medical history the On-Call Doctor can provide for transfer of the patient from an O.O.P. facility to an In-Plan Center.
With knowledge, he can discuss what is really needed to clear the patient for transfer. This can prevent costly and extensive workups, but not diminish proper care of the patient.
Reduce or prevent unnecessary or redundant testing and procedures.
Admissions to the hospital - the Hospitalist, or On-Call Physician, can better determine how stable vs. unstable the patient is, and if a patient is stable for transfer to a participating in-plan hospital. The admission may not even be necessary once the physicians involved have the complete medical record provided by KIS Medical Records.
KIS Medical Records reduces the cost of providing medical care:
Insurance companies or an H.M.O. can increase the quality of care with less time required to understand the needs of the patient, while providing complete and appropriate care and treatment.
Prevent duplication of lab tests or expensive procedures when referred to a sub- specialty physician, or out-of-plan physicians, emergency room or hospital.
Records follow the patient to referred physicians within the insurance/physician network, as well as any treating physician out side the network.
Physician liability is potentially decreased simply because the treating physician has all the medical information.
Advanced Directives follow the patient.
